Tenar is relevant for anyone wanting AI conversation with a physical, moving face. The head can be bought separately, while a full body significantly changes space and handling needs. Current software, your preferred language and delivery are the crucial points to clarify. We assess the manufacturer documentation; conversation quality, noise and practical comfort have not been tried here.
What makes it interesting
- Head movement, mouth movement and facial expressions are described by the manufacturer.
- The head is offered separately, and two body materials are available.
- The manufacturer states there is no extra charge for AI conversation.
Important caveats
- Language information differs between the head and full-body pages.
- Danish is not documented.
- No documented independent walking or motorised limb movement.

A conversational head on a physical body
Tenar's main robot function is in its head. RIDMII's AVN presentation describes turning towards a voice, mouth movement during speech and facial expressions. That gives a more specific picture of the function than a general AI label. The body's poseable joints must be assessed separately: the sources used do not document independent walking or motorised limbs. Our assessment is that Tenar should primarily be chosen for an interest in dialogue and facial mechanics, rather than an expectation of an autonomous full-body robot.
Head alone or one of two bodies
The manufacturer offers the head separately and the full-body model with a silicone head over either a TPE or silicone body. The basic 163 cm model is listed at 39 kg with a TPE body and 31 kg in full silicone. That eight-kilogram difference matters when planning movement and storage. The figures do not tell you which surface you will prefer to touch. If conversation is your main aim, the head package is worth considering as a smaller setup with suitable support.
Languages and included conversation
The full-body page currently lists English, while the head page also mentions Mandarin. Danish is not documented. RIDMII says the intelligent features are included without an additional subscription. This is an attractive manufacturer claim, but not a documented promise that service terms will remain unchanged forever. Include the language and software version in the quote. If conversation is your main purpose, a demonstration in that exact language is more relevant than a video of a different setup.
Controls and everyday setup
The pages describe a touchscreen and Wi-Fi. They do not make the exact stopping procedure, processing of conversation data or full offline functionality sufficiently clear for our assessment. This means the controls must be clarified for the version supplied. A useful demonstration should show startup, ordinary conversation, interruption and shutdown in one sequence. We have not measured response time or motor noise and therefore do not turn the manufacturer's demonstration into a claim of reliability in your home.
A moving jaw is not a set of instructions
RIDMII advises against oral use of the AI head, even though it has a moving jaw. The head's mechanics and electronics must therefore inform decisions about use and care. A general guide to the body material is insufficient for the face, screen and connections. Ask for the specific head manual and instructions for moving the complete model. We have not verified a model manual specifying cleaning agents, drying methods and disassembly limits.
The order must describe the current version
When we checked the sources, the head and full-body pages displayed both Sold out and a buy button. We therefore do not treat a visible shop page as proof of physical stock. Clarify the production date and dispatch alongside the selected configuration. RIDMII's general service terms request inspection and an unboxing video on arrival. Also obtain the relevant terms for the AI head itself. This is particularly important when the delivered functionality depends on more than the body's material and appearance.
